Seattle Photonics has been involved with the optical design of several telecom systems. These systems have included fan-in/fan-out optical switches and high bit rate free-space optical communication systems. These systems have their own set of technical challenges that are not all that common in the general optical design space. However like many other system we design and prototype, these optics may be required to operate in harsh environments with low data drop rates.
