STRAY LIGHT ANALYSIS
One of Seattle Photonics' core competencies is the ability to perform rigorous stray light analysis. Often, optical systems need to mitigate stray light contributions to maintain good contrast or resolution performance; or an optical solution may require that no false signals inadvertently register on a focal plane array due to ghosts or flares generated by mechanical components or lens edges. This type of analysis may require millions of rays to be traced through an optical system to help specify mechanical baffles, particular edging requirements, or thin-film coatings. We can take an existing mechanical model, merge it with an optical model and import into our analysis software to perform this type of review. SPA has performed stray light studies on a number of systems including Earth observing satellites, UAV zoom lenses, and scanning barcode readers.
